HTC Pyramid Photos Shown up from HTC Confidential

The HTC Pyramid leaked out in some renders that looked pretty good. However, they were just marketing renders, and the photos that leaked out earlier today from GSM Arena and TechBlog.gr give us a better look at the form factor and a side-by-side match up with the HTC Desire HD.

In addition to the photos, TMoNews has stumbled upon a gold mine of information and here is a list of specifications that they believe will comprise the HTC Pyramid when it becomes official:

    480 x 800 display
    Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor
    768MB of processor RAM
8MP rear cam; VGA front cam
    HSPA+ (14.4 Mbps)
    Android 2.4 (repeat 2.4)
    DLNA
    HTC Sense 3.0

The HTC Pyramid will supposedly come loaded with Google’s next version of Android, software that is expected to be announced at Google I/O. That makes a lot more sense than a previous rumor that pegged the Pyramid as running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, an operating system that Google has said is not for smartphones. As for the Pyramid’s hardware, it apparently is ‘sleeker and lighter’ than Verizon’s recent release, the HTC ThunderBolt.

Mobile Phones: Making The World Smaller

The field of communication is experiencing a great deal of innovative changes that are creating a global village. Before the invention of the telephone, it was unimaginable that one could ever actually talk to somebody even twenty miles away. In the world of today, we can't even bring ourselves to picture what life would be like if we could not speak across oceans and continents.

Less than twenty years ago a telephone was attached to a wall and could move only as far as the telephone cord. Today, even in our homes we are able to discuss about about the weather and everything else under the sun from not just the drawing rooms, but also from the kitchen, the bathroom, the attic, or any other place you can picture. The credit for all this went to the cordless phone.

There was a time when the car phone was seen as being a major advance. Who would have imagined that there would come a time when you could talk while you were going from one place to another. Yet, even with cordless phones and car phones, we continued to be attached to something – in this case, the house and the car respectively.

Then the big boom happened! We saw the invention of something that heralded great changes in the way in which the world carried out its communication. The age of the mobile phone had now begun. The contrast was great between this era and the era when letters had to be posted whenever some message of great importance was involved. Back in the days when post was the only way to communicate quickly, one could never have imagined receiving an instant response. But now, as mobile phones continue to boss over our lives, the buzzword is instant communication.

We are the children of the communication era, and are able to watch the rise of newer and newer modes of communication. Certainly, the most deserving representative of this global village is the mobile phone. We are no longer tied down by telephone cords. We are able to talk to our near and dear ones, our colleagues and mentors, and whoever else we would like to even while going from one place to another.

Gone are the days of trying to recall important phone numbers. We have passed the days of looking for a pay phone if we want to make a call. The good old mobile phone is ever ready to make whatever call we want it to!

Motorola Xoom Android 3.0 Honeycomb Tablet Reviews

Motorola Xoom be the first tablet that comes with Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system that is specifically designed for tablets. I got a chance to play with it (along with the Atrix) at it’s Dubai launch today. The Motorola Xoom is a bit shorter than the iPad but offers a bigger sized 10.1″ screen with a higher 1280×800 resolution which gives it a 16:9 aspect ratio for watching movies without the black bars around the screen. It also felt a tad bit heavier than the iPad.

Motorola has managed to keep the size smaller than the iPad by reducing the bezel which could be a good or bad thing. You hold bigger tablets with two hands and with a smaller bezel, your thumb will be on the screen every time you pick the device up which could possibly tap the screen when you wouldn’t want it to. I’ll reserve my judgement when I receive a review sample which should hopefully be around the time it is launch by the end of March in the UAE (end of Feb in the US.)

We will see two models launched in the UAE- one with just Wi-Fi and the other with W-Fi and 3G and Motorola is working on getting a contract version with the local telcos to avoid higher upfront costs. They did not provide any pricing information but the Best Buy leak suggested $800 in the US so my guess would be around AED 3,500 here.

There is no button on the Xoom and the bottom bit becomes the nav/notification area- whatever your orientation is. Even though the unit is currently in beta, it felt incredibly zippy. The dual-core 1.0GHz Tegra processor along with 1GB RAM certainly helped with that. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Tab, app are specifically designed for tablet usage with Honeycomb as you saw with the Gmail and YouTube app.

Motorola might have to pull a few more strings besides a Super Bowl ad tease if it wants to sell the Xoom at $800. The entry-level price of the iPad is a whole $300 lower, if the leaked promotional material from Engadget is accurate. When comparing to the closest iPad match, the Xoom will still be $70 more expensive that the 32GB 3G iPad ($730). The iPad 2, expected some time this spring, will most likely have the same low entry price (and matching specs), while the older (current) iPad model could also be sold at a discounted price alongside.

There could also be another deal breaker for the Xoom. According to the fine print in the leaked promo, in order to activate WiFi on the Xoom, you will have to purchase a minimum of one month data subscription with Verizon. The Xoom can work on Wi-Fi and on Verizon's 3G and 4G/LTE network, but does that justify disabling the Wi-Fi capability if you don't want to use 3G? Although it's only one month of data, it will cost you $20 for 1GB of data on Verizon's plans for Xoom's, or up to $80 for 10 GB (same as plans for Samsung Galaxy Tab on Verizon).

Overall, to use basic Wi-Fi connectivity on a Motorola Xoom you would need to pay $800 for the tablet, plus $20 for a month of data and up to $35 in activation fees, bringing the cost of the Xoom at a grand total of $855. That's still $25 more expensive than the top-end 64GB 3G iPad. So, if this is indeed Motorola's pricing scheme for the Xoom, Apple doesn't really have to worry about Android tablet domination any time soon.

What To Do If Your Mobilephone is Stolen

What To Do If Your Mobilephone is Stolen - Loosing a mobilephone is not an uncommon thing for anyone in this world. You must have heard that your friend or any other person forget his or her phone in a hotel, car, garden, park. and when he or she goes to pick up phone, mobilephone was not there where he or she left it. Now what to do if your mobilephone is stolen.

In many countries like UK, there is mobilephone database, which can prevent lost or stolen mobilephones from being used on any mobile network, thus these stolen mobilephones are worthless to anyone. This system exactly works like a stolen credit card, whenever you loose your credit card, you simply make a phone call to your requisite bank to deactivate your credit card. Similar is the case with mobilephones, you call your service provider and give them a specific number to deactivate your stolen mobilephone. This system applies to both prepay and postpaid packages.

Every mobile in this world has a unique code called as International mobile equipment identity (IMEI Number). This is a unique serial number of every mobilephone. If you provide this serial number to your network operator, they will deactivate your stolen mobilephone. No one can use your mobilephone even if the person who has stolen your mobile, insert new sim in the mobile. This mobile will be useless for all networks or service providers. All mobile network operators will deactivate or disable the phone by reference to the unique IMEI nomber of the mobilephone.

Now question is how to get this IMEI number? This number can normally be found under the battery of mobilephone (looking something like 004400/01/123456/7). You can also get this number from the phone software, by entering following usefull code. Simply write down on your mobilephone following code.* # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen after pressing send button, or in some phones it comes automatically just by writing * # 0 6 #. So whenever you buy a mobilephone, get this code from the battery or simply write above code on your phone and get IMEI number.

After this record this 15 digit IMEI number and your phone number on your personal note book, place this book at a safe place and thats it. Now suppose if you lost your phone, make a call to your service provider and give them your phone number and this particular key,i.e IMEI number. They will deactivate your stolen mobilephone. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobilephones.

Remember your mobilephone is very valuable for you. You may have very important data stored in it. So take care of your mobilephones. Don't use your mobile in crowded areas or where you might feel unsafe. Govenment is trying to encourage mobilephone companies to give more options for improving mobilephone security.

So remember this simple code * # 0 6 #. Tell all your friends and colleagues to get IMEI number with the help of this code. If all of us simply follow this tip of making mobile secure, believe me no one will try to steal anyone's mobilephone.

Say Hello to the HTC Thunderbolt

Say hello to the HTC Thunderbolt, which will be the first 4G LTE device to land on Verizon after its unveiling next week at CES.  As you can see, it really just looks exactly like the Desire HD, but has Verizon branding and will be 4G capable which means it’ll be amazing.  We’re assuming it won’t have  a dual-core processor which most of you decided was critically important, but after seeing it, have you changed your mind?

So, that lovely 4.3-inch LTE  smartphone with Android for Verizon we've been calling the Mecha and the Droid Incredible HD? Looks like it might come to market as the Thunderbolt. We tend to put some weight on the rumor considering that they've just run twelve leaked shots of the thing. As you can see, this is clearly Verizon's head-on answer to the EVO 4G, featuring similar stylings and, in all likelihood, an LTE modem swapped in for the EVO's WiMAX one.
We should point out that there is a surprise behind the kickstand and Google branding which we’re hoping means no Bing.  Hello Droid Thunderbolt? Will the first device it shows off be the HTC Thunderbolt?

Sure looks like that "controlled" leak from a few days back, doesn't it? More on this at Verizon's press conference next week, we presume. Hello Droid Thunderbolt? Photos of the HTC Thunderbolt, the first LTE phone to land on Verizon, have been leaked ahead of CES.

This video successfully invited speculation from analysts and journalists. Some of them are convinced that the tablet will run Motorola's new operating system Android Honeycomb, which is specially designed operating system by Google for a tablet computer.

Another speculation that arises is Motorola and Verizon preparing tablet measuring 10 inches and supports the latest FiOS network. However, this rumor quickly denied by BetaNews.

"Here, the logic was that Motorola made a sort of set top boxes to Verizon's FiOS service. Nothing to do with rumors of a tablet. Tablet to function as a retail or home-based communication tool," said Tim Conneally from BetaNews.

Meanwhile, Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab still vying to dominate the market. BlackBerry Playbook, though it was published, until now there has been provided by Research In Motion (RIM) in the market. Blackberry Future Concept - Blackberry Empathy

BlackBerry design which we know is quite typical. Wide-screen, trackpad or trackball navigation features, and the average comes with a Qwerty keypad. But, the concept of this one probably will make you stunned and did not previously suspected.

The concept of a BlackBerry Empathy that carried Kiki Tang and Daniel Yoon from Art Center College of Design is much different from the concept design of the BlackBerry is currently available.

At first glance Empathy BlackBerry phone comes with a physical interface resembles a crystal and a unique form of biometric ring that serves to collect emotional data. It works when you touch with your friends via instant messaging (IM) and social networking services like Facebook, Twitter, and the like.

"As seen, this concept offers a touch-screen technology. Uniquely, antarpengguna connections displayed graphically, so that users are permitted to see who is connected with whom," said Kiki, one of the designers Empathy, as quoted VIVAnews from CrackBerry.com, Tuesday, November 30 2010.

Each contact will have avatars, each circled the ring in two colors showing the emotional data. Of course, the color of the ring are influenced by emotions related contacts. For example, the colored ring that lies in part in the show's emotional before. While the outer ring indicates a person's emotional progress.

"It is interesting to know the changes in a person's emotions, even more so when they want to know his emotions change after seeing an event," said Kiki.

Another important feature is the Emotional Health Chart. This graph charts to monitor the health of a person emotionally in infinite time. One can see how an event, such as telephone calls, or receive a short message to affect the user's emotional. Happy, sad, angry, and so forth. If the graph shows someone is always unhappy, then maybe he is experiencing problems. If allowed, users can view graphs of other users as well.

The concept is really interesting. Although not yet known what kind of technology will support it. We're sure you were curious to see your mood in the ring, or to know your partner's mood when an event occurs. Let us wait whether this concept is really manifested by Research In Motion (RIM) or not.

iPhone vs. Android G2 vs. HTC Surround : Competition

It's continually amazing how much money people are willing to spend to destroy electronics, especially smartphones. If it's not somebody putting an iPhone in a blender it's somebody else getting a model to stomp on it. Well, the EZ Grill Company has taken the destruction to the next level, holding a competition to see which on three popular smartphones can hold up the longest to a barbecue flame.

The EZ Grillers took a $599 Android G2, a $499 HTC Surround running Windows Phone 7, and an iPhone 4 they say cost $731 (a 32GB model? really?) and put them all on their portable, disposable grill. The video was produced by Banyan Branch, a "social media" advertising agency that is helping them market their product by coming up with something they hope will go viral. They've also got a promotion where if you send a picture of you and your friends using disposable EZ Grills, they'll send you as many as three replacements. It's all about using social media like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to sell products, and it's probably a good strategy for companies with a small budget.

As far as the "competition" went, T-Mobile's G2 Android phone by HTC was the first to go, black-screening 45 seconds into the video. The iPhone 4 showed a warning as soon as the internal sensor registered the 35°C cutoff temperature, so we're not sure if the phone was dead yet "or only resting." The HTC Surround lasted the longest, with its Windows Phone alarm ringing until it too went dead. The video ends colorfully (and toxically) with the phones' batteries exploding.
