4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 fans out there even though the device hasn’t been officially released. Good news on that front: next week on June 8th anyone in New York City willing to battle what may shape up to be an epic line at the flagship Best Buy location in Union Square will be able to purchase one. If you don’t live in New York and don’t plan to make a trip here just to be among the first to get your hands on one, just wait 10 days until the nationwide launch.

Verizon has the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet with 4G LTE onboard up for pre-order right now. The actual ship date for the 4G version of the tablet is listed as 4-6 weeks out. There are several versions of the Tab 10.1 that will be offered by Verizon and price for pre-orders start at $529.99 with a new 2-year contract on a data plan. Other than the addition of the 4G modem, the tablet is the same as the other flavors.

That means you get a 10.1-inch screen, dual core 1GHz processor, and Android Honeycomb as the operating system. The $529.99 price tag will get the 16GB versions in white or gray colors. A 32GB version is available as well for $629.99. The tablet will work on 3G networks if you aren’t in a 4G LTE area.

The Verizon LTE version of the Tab will be available for pre-order starting on June 8th. There’s no announcement regarding ship dates and when they’ll arrive in stores as of yet. In the meantime, check out our review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Limited Edition. We’ll also review the consumer version of the tablet as soon as possible. You know, just in case you didn’t have enough to drool over.

HTC Pyramid Photos Shown up from HTC Confidential

The HTC Pyramid leaked out in some renders that looked pretty good. However, they were just marketing renders, and the photos that leaked out earlier today from GSM Arena and TechBlog.gr give us a better look at the form factor and a side-by-side match up with the HTC Desire HD.

In addition to the photos, TMoNews has stumbled upon a gold mine of information and here is a list of specifications that they believe will comprise the HTC Pyramid when it becomes official:

    480 x 800 display
    Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor
    768MB of processor RAM
8MP rear cam; VGA front cam
    HSPA+ (14.4 Mbps)
    Android 2.4 (repeat 2.4)
    DLNA
    HTC Sense 3.0

The HTC Pyramid will supposedly come loaded with Google’s next version of Android, software that is expected to be announced at Google I/O. That makes a lot more sense than a previous rumor that pegged the Pyramid as running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, an operating system that Google has said is not for smartphones. As for the Pyramid’s hardware, it apparently is ‘sleeker and lighter’ than Verizon’s recent release, the HTC ThunderBolt.

Android Virus Hide Behind Android Security Update App

Symantec discover a new trojan that mimics Android security update has just been released on the Android Market by Google.

This Trojan spreads through third-party Android application store. This Trojan is malware (malicious programs) that is inserted into the security updates on the Android Market which was released by Goolge.

Initially, this update has the mission to remove malware DroidDream of Android devices. This malware disguised using the original name of security tools in the Android Market.

The Trojan targets users of Android in China. Symantec said the trojan is able to send SMS to govern and control the server together with information devices, including the IMEI number and the number of mobile users.

"Analysis of the application is still under development. However, the surprising thing is this malware code based on existing projects on Google Code and the license held by the Apache License, "said Mario Ballano from Symantec.

Android popularity in the world makes the hackers (hackers) flare exploit. They usually insert malware into applications that seem harmless.

Latest Gartner statistics show, 67 million Android devices sold last year.

Motorola Xoom Android 3.0 Honeycomb Tablet Reviews

Motorola Xoom be the first tablet that comes with Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system that is specifically designed for tablets. I got a chance to play with it (along with the Atrix) at it’s Dubai launch today. The Motorola Xoom is a bit shorter than the iPad but offers a bigger sized 10.1″ screen with a higher 1280×800 resolution which gives it a 16:9 aspect ratio for watching movies without the black bars around the screen. It also felt a tad bit heavier than the iPad.

Motorola has managed to keep the size smaller than the iPad by reducing the bezel which could be a good or bad thing. You hold bigger tablets with two hands and with a smaller bezel, your thumb will be on the screen every time you pick the device up which could possibly tap the screen when you wouldn’t want it to. I’ll reserve my judgement when I receive a review sample which should hopefully be around the time it is launch by the end of March in the UAE (end of Feb in the US.)

We will see two models launched in the UAE- one with just Wi-Fi and the other with W-Fi and 3G and Motorola is working on getting a contract version with the local telcos to avoid higher upfront costs. They did not provide any pricing information but the Best Buy leak suggested $800 in the US so my guess would be around AED 3,500 here.

There is no button on the Xoom and the bottom bit becomes the nav/notification area- whatever your orientation is. Even though the unit is currently in beta, it felt incredibly zippy. The dual-core 1.0GHz Tegra processor along with 1GB RAM certainly helped with that. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Tab, app are specifically designed for tablet usage with Honeycomb as you saw with the Gmail and YouTube app.

Motorola might have to pull a few more strings besides a Super Bowl ad tease if it wants to sell the Xoom at $800. The entry-level price of the iPad is a whole $300 lower, if the leaked promotional material from Engadget is accurate. When comparing to the closest iPad match, the Xoom will still be $70 more expensive that the 32GB 3G iPad ($730). The iPad 2, expected some time this spring, will most likely have the same low entry price (and matching specs), while the older (current) iPad model could also be sold at a discounted price alongside.

There could also be another deal breaker for the Xoom. According to the fine print in the leaked promo, in order to activate WiFi on the Xoom, you will have to purchase a minimum of one month data subscription with Verizon. The Xoom can work on Wi-Fi and on Verizon's 3G and 4G/LTE network, but does that justify disabling the Wi-Fi capability if you don't want to use 3G? Although it's only one month of data, it will cost you $20 for 1GB of data on Verizon's plans for Xoom's, or up to $80 for 10 GB (same as plans for Samsung Galaxy Tab on Verizon).

Overall, to use basic Wi-Fi connectivity on a Motorola Xoom you would need to pay $800 for the tablet, plus $20 for a month of data and up to $35 in activation fees, bringing the cost of the Xoom at a grand total of $855. That's still $25 more expensive than the top-end 64GB 3G iPad. So, if this is indeed Motorola's pricing scheme for the Xoom, Apple doesn't really have to worry about Android tablet domination any time soon.

Nextbook NEXT 8.4 Android Tablet Review

Nextbook NEXT3 is a large 8.4Android tablet which can serves as a eBook reader, video player, music player, photo viewer and web browser. The color display offers 800 X 600 pixels resolution. Running on Android OS 2.1, Nextbook NEXT3 8.4″ is powerd by ARM926 EJ dual-core 600Mhz processor, coupled with 2 x 128MB DDR2 RAM along with 2GB Flash memory (system Memory 1.1GB) . There’s SD Card slot to increase storage capacity.

I realize that this is a trend several hardware manufacturers are going toward, and I’d like to take this moment to ask them to stop. Having physical buttons may offend some aesthetically, but they’re very useful. Especially in instances where an app stops working or the display stops responding to taps. As happened several times when using the Next3. Of course, there is always the chance that the entire system is frozen and it needs a hard reset. However, the Back or Home button would have sufficed for most of the problems I encountered.
As an eBook reader, Nextbook NEXT3 comes with a free, preloaded 25 books. Partnered with Borders.com, you can easily access to Border online bookstore and download eBooks directly with the built-in Borders apps. You can also browse the web from any hotspot via the integrated Wi-Fi. When fully charged, you can read up to 5 hours.

Nextbook NEXT3 supports ePub, PDF, TXT and FB2 files, and can playback of most media files including MP3, MWA, WAV, OGG, FLAC, APE, AAC, AVI, 3GP/MP4, RM/RMVB, FLV, MKV, MOV and WMV. Other specs include 4 Way G-sensor, built-in speaker, 3.5mm jack and USB 2.0 interface. Software Suite Home & Office Edition DVD-ROM, Stylus and Protection cover are included.

iPhone vs. Android G2 vs. HTC Surround : Competition

It's continually amazing how much money people are willing to spend to destroy electronics, especially smartphones. If it's not somebody putting an iPhone in a blender it's somebody else getting a model to stomp on it. Well, the EZ Grill Company has taken the destruction to the next level, holding a competition to see which on three popular smartphones can hold up the longest to a barbecue flame.

The EZ Grillers took a $599 Android G2, a $499 HTC Surround running Windows Phone 7, and an iPhone 4 they say cost $731 (a 32GB model? really?) and put them all on their portable, disposable grill. The video was produced by Banyan Branch, a "social media" advertising agency that is helping them market their product by coming up with something they hope will go viral. They've also got a promotion where if you send a picture of you and your friends using disposable EZ Grills, they'll send you as many as three replacements. It's all about using social media like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to sell products, and it's probably a good strategy for companies with a small budget.

As far as the "competition" went, T-Mobile's G2 Android phone by HTC was the first to go, black-screening 45 seconds into the video. The iPhone 4 showed a warning as soon as the internal sensor registered the 35°C cutoff temperature, so we're not sure if the phone was dead yet "or only resting." The HTC Surround lasted the longest, with its Windows Phone alarm ringing until it too went dead. The video ends colorfully (and toxically) with the phones' batteries exploding.

Android 3.0 is the possibility of using the display more attractive given the former head of design webOS Palm, Martias Duarte, joined the team at Google's Android developer since last May. In addition, Google is likely to integrate various services in a separate application so that users would find it useful keitmbang as innate features. Separate applications also reduces operator dependence to always give updates to users.

Android will be the Most Popular Smartphones Brand

Half a billion people will use the Android operating system in 2015, according to Informa analysts. The company also said there will be more than one billion smart phone subscription in 2013.

"This growth was driven by the ongoing competition between top-level producers and challengers like Google, RIM, Apple and Microsoft are competing to create the best user experience at points of lower prices," the company said.

Nokia will lose most of the trend, according to principal analyst Malik Kamal-Saadi. "Informa expects that the market share of Symbian, of the total smart phone users decreased significantly from 53 percent in 2009 to 32 percent in 2015. In terms of sales, the Android smart phone is expected to surpass Symbian in 2012," he said.

Kamal-Saadi added, however, Nokia will be under great pressure to change their strategy if the innovation does not happen on the Symbian platform.

"If Nokia joined with Android, the support of this ecosystem and all the key players can help the smart phone industry into a commodity business software the same as what Microsoft did in the PC world," he said.

If Nokia continues in the current strategy, Nokia will have niche markets, Mr. Kamal-Saadi concluded in a report by the Telegraph

The Samsung Galaxy Tab - Android Tablet Computer S i9000

Advance News and Technology Information - Samsung is conducting a lesson in Brand Identity 101. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet is basically a gigantic Galaxy S i9000 in the same way that the iPad is an oversized iPhone. A forward facing camera appears to sit above the top right corner of the display, and a volume control appears on the top of the Pad's left edge. When it comes to Android powered tablets, or even Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs), there's already a few options out there.

Samsung has heard the call, and truth be told they might have a nice crack at creating something desirable. We’re not entirely sure if the Galaxy Tab was supposed to go official yet, seeing as the pic and announcement came from the Samsung South Africa Twitter feed, but here she is. Seven inches of TFT fun from The Samsung Galaxy Tab - Android Tablet Computer.

The only technical specs available right now are the Android install and 7-inch screen size. This might not be just a data-only tablet though. Notice that phone icon in the bottom left? Samsung Galaxy Tab Android Tablet Computer might have one-up’d Apple in the tablet race, although a Bluetooth headset is likely the only way to make calls on this thing. Calling on it would be like holding up a medium size Moleskin notebook to your head.

Droid X : The Newest Motorola Verizon Android Phone

Let the next-gen smartphone wars begin. Days after Apple took the wraps off the iPhone 4, Verizon began advertising for the Droid X, the latest installment in Motorola's top-selling Droid line. Details are still fuzzy on the Droid X hardware, but early reports say the phone is a "snappy," sleek performer, and a worthy challenger to the iPhone 4 and HTC EVO 4G

Earlier today, Verizon launched a spot for the Droid X, under a simple headline: "The next generation of does." The headline is a nod to the original Droid, which was marketed as a "bare-knuckled bucket of does," and touted by Verizon as the phone that knock the mighty iPhone off its perch. But the market has changed in recent months: The HTC EVO 4G and Apple iPhone 4 are in many ways better machines than the original Droid.

So it's not exactly a huge surprise that Motorola is readying a next-gen Droid – one that can compete with similar units from Apple and HTC.

Anticipation is high. In a short review posted on the Engadget site a couple of days ago, Joanna Stern praised the hardware on the Droid X – including the 8-megapixel camera – and the operating system, which Stern says is Android 2.1, possibly coupled with a new Motoblur skin. The blogosphere has lit up today with gossip about the Droid's screen, rumored to be among the sharpest on the smartphone market.
