American Idol Apologizing for Steven Tyler?

The producers of 'American Idol' "apologized," it turns out, for Tyler's hinting to a contestant with the last name of Muck that his name rhymed with a certain profane word. Some have interpreted the apology as satire aimed at those who complained about it last week. American Idol just got started tonight, and the show began with an apology flashing across the screen regarding Steven Tyler’s behavior on last week’s show.

The black card apology read: "American Idol would like to apologize for last week's outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler. Mr. Tyler has been warned and assures us it will never happen again."

Ryan Seacrest announced on his radio show on Wednesday that the television singing show will air an apology at the beginning of the show. "There's a black card that starts the show tonight," Seacrest said. "It starts with, 'American Idol would like to apologize for last week's outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler...'"

Seacrest kept the behavior a secret, hinting only that viewers would know what he was talking about if they had tuned in to last week's episode. Stay tuned tonight for the answer.

It said something to the effect of “American Idol would like to apologize for Steven Tyler’s outrageous behavior… Mr. Tyler has been warned…it will not happen again…”

And then the camera panned to a contestant coming in to the audition room, standing in front of the judges, and announcing his last name as “Muck.”

Steven Tyler looked at him and said, “Do you know what that rhymes with?” The guy said, “Duck?”, and then Steven Tyler said, “Read my lips….”
Cue Ryan Seacrest…”This is American Idol!”
