Asia became the fastest growing region for new subscribers to the social networking site Facebook, a senior executive said the company's site provider, on Tuesday. Spoke at the opening of Facebook's first sales office in Asia in Singapore, vice-president Blake Chandlee said growth in that region even more than half the number of citizens from around the world of Facebook.
Facebook now claims more than 500 million registered users worldwide, with 54 per cent are active citizens who are always online every day.
Chandlee, commercial director for the region outside North America and Western Europe, gave an example of Singapore. In the country, of a total population of five million people, 3 million inhabitants of whom have accounts on Facebook.
He opened the kitchen secrets of Facebook, which classifies into four regional service - they have called the theater - namely North America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Asia, and Latin America. "Asia is the fastest growth among the big theater. Asia has several countries with the fastest growth in it of course," said Chandlee, who described the growth of Facebook in India as 'extraordinary'.
