Science Daily - Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the largest particle accelerator in the world's energy, has the potential to become the world's first time machine. The reason, according to a theory, this device is capable of sending materials to the past.
The theory is expressed by Tom Weiler, professor of physics at Vanderbilt University, and colleagues Chui Man Ho. Weiler and Ho based his theory on a theory called M-theory, a "theory of everything".
M-theory itself was developed by theoretical physicist who mentions the possibility that the universe is a membrane or "brane" that floats four dimensions in a multidimensional space of time called the "bulk". According to this view, the basic structure of the universe are permanently stuck on the "brane" that can not cross into another dimension.
Weiler and Ho was trying to develop this theory by utilizing the ability of the LHC. According to them, if the LHC has created a Higgs boson particle, which at the same time creating a second particle called the Higgs singlet at the same time, the Higgs singlet that will have the ability to jump into the 5th dimension, where the particle will be able to move forward or backward in time space and reappearing in the future or the past.
The interesting thing about this approach is a journey across time, according to this theory, all paradoxes can be avoided. "Because travel across time is limited only to the singlet Higgs particle, it is possible, for example, someone returning to the past and kill his parents before he was born," said Weiler.
Even so, Weiler admits that his theory still requires a long time to arrive at the proof stage. "But this theory did not violate the laws of physics or rules of any experiment," he said.
