Recession proof: The world's 10 top-earning models pulled in a collective $112 million during the past year, a 30 per cent increase from the previous year, thanks in part to consumers spending again on the luxury sector, according to Forbes.com.
Candice Swanepoel: South African beauty Candice Swanepoel and Victoria's Secret model debuts on the list at number 10 with $3 million in 2010 earnings.
Natalia Vodianova: 29-year-old Natalia is a mother of three and her professional appearances, including that for lingerie company Etam, earned her $4 million last year.
Carolyn Murphy: Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl Carolyn Murphy's 2010 earning were to the tune of $4.3 million. She is also an actress.
Lara Stone: Dutch model Lara Stone is famous as the face of Calvin Klein and also has contracts with Versace, H&M, Forum, Prada and Donna Karan. She brought home $4.5 million in 2010.
Daria Werbowy: With an earning of $4.5 million, the Ukrainian-Canadian model has a lucrative contract with French beauty brand Lancome.
Alessandra Ambrosio: A Victoria's Secret model, Alessandra Ambrosio's 2010 earnings totalled $5 million. She has appeared in campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana and Moschino and is also the face of Brazilian sportswear brand Colcci.
Adriana Lima: The Brazilian beauty's, best known as a Victoria's Secret Angel since 2000, earnings in 2010 amounted to about $8 million.
Kate Moss: Kate Moss has fashioned herself a double-barreled career, to the tune of $13.5 million last year, owing to a host of modelling and designing gigs including a lucrative design deal with the British fashion brand TopShop
Heidi Klum: The German supermodel is a distant second raking in $20 million by continuing her evolution from model to businesswoman, adding a clothing line and a new children's show to her successful run with the reality series Project Runway
Gisele Bundchen: Bundchen, who raked in $45 million or nearly double the previous year, is "in a class by herself," Edward Razek, Limited Brands' chief marketing officer who worked with her during her Victoria's Secret career, told Forbes. "She's an international icon who can also move products from shampoo to couture," Razek said.
The Brazilian supermodel was even cited during last month's third-quarter earnings call from Procter & Gamble, owing to a 40 per cent spike in Latin American sales of its Pantene shampoo once Bundchen starting hawking it, according to Forbes.com. The surging Brazilian real against the dollar didn't hurt.
